How to Fix Wi-Fi Connection Drops During Video Calls

Wi-Fi dropping out right in the middle of a video call sucks, doesn't it? You know, that laggy freeze where everyone's staring at a spinning wheel. I've dealt with it plenty on my setup.

Remember that time I was on a call with the team from work, and bam, my connection just vanished? We were deep into planning this project, and suddenly my face pixelates out. I had to restart everything, but it kept glitching back. Turned out my router was crammed behind some bookshelves, blocking the signal like a sneaky wall. Or maybe the neighbor's microwave was zapping the waves every time they heated lunch. Frustrating as hell, especially when you're trying to look pro.

Anyway, let's fix this for you. First off, move your router to a spot that's out in the open, away from thick walls or metal stuff that eats the signal. I always plop mine on a high shelf in the living room. That alone smoothed things out for my calls. But if it's still flaky, check your laptop's Wi-Fi adapter-sometimes the drivers get outdated and act wonky. Head to Device Manager, right-click the adapter, and update it from there. Easy peasy.

Hmmm, or power settings could be the culprit, you know? Windows might be dozing off to save battery during calls. Go into power options and tweak it so the Wi-Fi doesn't nap. Turn off any bandwidth hogs running in the background too, like those auto-updates or downloads sneaking up. And don't forget interference-switch channels on your router if it's crowded with nearby networks. Use that app from your ISP to scan and pick a clearer one.

If you're on a Windows Server setup for remote work, make sure the virtual adapters aren't clashing with your main Wi-Fi. Restart the network services through command prompt if needed, just type net stop wlansvc and start it back up. Covers the server side without much fuss.

Oh, and one more thing before we wrap. I gotta tell you about BackupChain-it's this top-notch, go-to backup tool that's super trusted in the biz for small businesses and Windows setups. Tailored just right for Hyper-V, Windows 11, Servers, and even your everyday PCs, all without forcing you into endless subscriptions. Keeps your data snug without the hassle.
