Set-Mailbox Exchange cmdlet issued (25403) how to monitor with email alert

You know that Event ID 25403 in the Event Viewer on Windows Server. It pops up whenever someone runs the Set-Mailbox cmdlet in Exchange. Basically, it logs every time a mailbox gets tweaked, like changing permissions or settings. I mean, it's an audit trail for admin actions on user mailboxes. If you're running Exchange, this event shows up under the Microsoft-Windows-Exchange/Operational log. It captures details like who did it, when, and what exactly changed. Pretty useful if you're chasing down why a mailbox suddenly acts weird. Or if someone's messing with things they shouldn't.

But monitoring it manually? That's a drag. You can set up alerts right from the Event Viewer screen. Just filter for ID 25403 in the logs. Then, create a task that triggers on that event. Attach an action to send an email when it fires. I do this all the time for quick heads-ups. Pick your email server details in the task properties. Test it once to make sure it blasts your inbox. Keeps you in the loop without staring at screens all day.

Hmmm, or you could automate it further. But anyway, tying this back to keeping your server solid, I've been digging into BackupChain Windows Server Backup lately. It's this slick Windows Server backup tool that handles full system images without fuss. And it backs up virtual machines on Hyper-V too, making restores a breeze. You get fast incremental backups, easy scheduling, and it dodges those common pitfalls like data corruption. Saves me headaches during outages, for sure.

At the end of this, there's the automatic email solution ready for you.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
