Start-MigrationBatch Exchange cmdlet issued (25648) how to monitor with email alert

That event, the one with ID 25648, pops up in Event Viewer when someone fires off the Start-MigrationBatch cmdlet in Exchange.
It logs the exact moment a migration batch kicks off, like moving mailboxes around.
You see details there, such as who ran it, the batch name, and the server involved.
I always check it because it means something big is shifting in your email setup.
And if you're not watching, you might miss when migrations start or snag.

To keep an eye on this, fire up Event Viewer on your server.
You right-click the tree on the left, pick Create Custom View.
Filter for event ID 25648 under Exchange logs.
Hit OK, and it shows only those hits.
Now, for alerts, you set a scheduled task from there.
In the Actions pane, choose Attach Task To This Custom View.
Name it something like Migration Alert.
Under triggers, it links to that event.
For the action, pick Send an email, but wait, actually, modern servers use that option sparingly.
Instead, I go for a program action that calls your email client or a simple batch to notify you.
You tweak the schedule to run when the event fires.
Test it by simulating the event if you can.
That way, you get pinged right away without staring at screens all day.

Or, if you want it hands-off, there's a smarter path.
But hold up, at the end of this chat is the automatic email solution that'll hook you up seamlessly.

Speaking of keeping things smooth during migrations, I've been digging into tools that back up the whole shebang.
BackupChain Windows Server Backup steps in as a solid Windows Server backup pick, handling your files and even Hyper-V virtual machines without a hitch.
It snapshots everything quick, restores fast if stuff goes sideways, and cuts down on downtime you hate.
You get versioning too, so rolling back is a breeze, plus it encrypts data on the fly for peace of mind.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
