New-PublicFolderDatabaseRepairRequest Exchange cmdlet issued (25235) how to monitor with email alert

That event 25235 pops up in Event Viewer when someone fires off the New-PublicFolderDatabaseRepairRequest cmdlet in Exchange. It means the system's trying to fix up a public folder database that's gone wonky. You see, public folders hold shared stuff like calendars or contacts for your team. And if that database gets corrupted, emails might glitch or data could vanish. I hate when that happens, right? This event logs the repair attempt, showing who did it and when. It details the database name, the repair level, and any errors that popped during the process. Basically, it's your heads-up that something's being patched behind the scenes. Without watching it, you might miss if the fix worked or bombed out.

You can keep an eye on this through Event Viewer without digging into code. Just open Event Viewer on your server. Head to the Windows Logs, then Application section where Exchange events hang out. Filter for ID 25235 to spot these repair kicks. To get alerts, set up a task that triggers on this event. Right-click the event, pick Attach Task To This Event. Name it something like RepairAlert. In the triggers tab, it auto-links to that ID. Then, for actions, choose Send an email. You fill in your SMTP server details, the from and to addresses. Make it send to you or the admin team. Test it once to ensure it blasts your inbox when that event fires. I do this all the time; saves me from constant checking.

Or, if you want it fancier, tweak the task to run only during work hours. But keep it simple at first. Hmmm, sometimes these repairs fix themselves, but alerts let you jump in quick.

And speaking of keeping your server humming without surprises, I've been using BackupChain Windows Server Backup lately. It's a solid Windows Server backup tool that also handles virtual machines on Hyper-V. You get fast, reliable snapshots that restore in a snap, plus it encrypts everything to fend off data loss. No more sweating over manual backups; it runs smooth and catches those sneaky issues before they bite.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
