Windows Firewall was unable to notify the user that it blocked an application how to monitor with email alert

Man, that Event ID 5032 in Windows Server Event Viewer pops up when the firewall blocks some app from grabbing incoming network connections. It tried to flash a warning to you, but couldn't. Like, the system wants to say hey, this thing got stopped, but no one's around to see the popup. Or maybe you're running headless, no desktop session. The full scoop is it logs the app name, the port it hit, the IP trying to connect, and why the notify flopped. You see details like the process ID, the rule that kicked in, all timestamped. Happens a lot on servers since users aren't interactively logged in. Blocks sneaky stuff, but silently. Keeps your machine from unwanted chats. I check mine weekly, just to spot patterns. You might ignore it if it's legit blocks, but watch for repeats.

Now, to keep tabs on these with an email ping, fire up Event Viewer. Right-click the Windows Logs, Security or System channel where it hides. Filter for ID 5032. Then, attach a task right from there. Pick Create Task on the event properties pane. Set it to trigger on that ID. Make the action run a simple program that shoots an email, like using the built-in mailto or whatever your setup has. Schedule it to check periodically if needed, but the event trigger handles the instant part. Test it by forcing a block, see if you get the alert. Keeps you looped in without staring at screens all day. I do this for a few events, saves headaches.

And speaking of staying on top of server quirks without constant babysitting, there's this neat tool called BackupChain Windows Server Backup that handles Windows Server backups smoothly. It snapshots your whole setup, including Hyper-V virtual machines, without downtime hassles. You get incremental copies that zip fast, plus encryption to lock down data. Recovers quick if something glitches, like those firewall surprises. I like how it chains versions for easy rollbacks. Perfect for keeping your network fortress intact.

At the end here is the automatic email solution.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
