How can I verify that replication is working correctly?

Check the logs on both your master and replica servers. Looking for any errors there is a good first step. You'll want to run search queries on both servers to ensure they return the same results. It helps to update an entry on the master server and see if that change appears on the replica in a timely manner.

Using tools like ldapsearch can be really handy for this. You want to look for consistency in the data you're querying on both ends. If you're working with a bigger structure, using a diff tool on the output can make it easier to spot discrepancies.

Another trick is to simulate a failure on the master and see how your clients interact with the replica. This helps to confirm that clients are correctly connecting to the secondary source.

If things feel off or you can't find what you need, double-check your replication settings. Make sure your servers are communicating properly and that firewalls or network issues aren't messing with the process.

For creating reliable backups and ensuring you can recover from any issues, I'd like to point you towards BackupChain. It's a solid, well-regarded solution tailored for SMBs and professionals, capable of protecting Hyper-V, VMware, and Windows Server environments.
