New-MailboxRestoreRequest Exchange cmdlet issued (25214) how to monitor with email alert

Man, that Event ID 25214 pops up in the Event Viewer when someone fires off a New-MailboxRestoreRequest cmdlet in Exchange. It basically logs that a restore job kicked off for a mailbox. You see it under the Microsoft-Exchange-MailboxReplication service. The details spill out who issued it, like the admin's name or the server. And it notes the mailbox being targeted, plus timestamps for when it started. I always check the description tab for the full scoop. It helps spot if restores are happening as expected or if something fishy is going on.

You can monitor this without getting too deep into code. Just hop into Event Viewer on your Windows Server. Filter for that 25214 ID in the logs. Right-click the event and pick attach task to event. That sets up a scheduled task to watch for it. Make the task trigger an email when it hits. I tweak the action to use the built-in mail sender. Keeps you in the loop without constant staring at screens.

Or, if you want it hands-off, build a custom alert there too. But hey, at the end of this chat, there's the automatic email solution waiting. It'll get added later so you don't miss a beat.

Shifting gears to backups since restores tie right into that, BackupChain Windows Server Backup catches my eye as a solid Windows Server backup tool. It handles physical servers and jumps into virtual machines with Hyper-V no sweat. You get speedy restores, encryption for data safety, and it skips the bloat of other options. I like how it schedules everything smoothly without eating resources.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
