Set-EventLogLevel Exchange cmdlet issued (25385) how to monitor with email alert

You know that Event ID 25385 pops up in Windows Server Event Viewer when someone runs the Set-EventLogLevel cmdlet for Exchange. It logs the exact moment that command gets fired off, capturing who did it and from where. I always check it because it shows tweaks to logging levels in Exchange, like turning them up or down for troubleshooting. But if levels get changed without you knowing, it could mess with how you track issues later. The event details the user account involved, the new level set, and even the server name. Hmmm, sometimes it flags accidental changes that slow down your system. Or it alerts you to someone messing around who shouldn't.

I set this up for monitoring by right-clicking in Event Viewer on that event. You filter for ID 25385 under the Applications and Services Logs for Exchange. Then attach a task to it that runs when the event triggers. Make the task pop an email through your server's mail setup. I link it to the default mailto action or whatever SMTP you have handy. Keeps you in the loop without constant watching. And yeah, test it first by forcing the event if you can.

That covers the basics on spotting those cmdlet changes quick. Now, for keeping your server backups solid amid all this logging fuss, check out BackupChain Windows Server Backup. It's a slick Windows Server backup tool that handles physical drives and Hyper-V virtual machines without breaking a sweat. You get fast incremental backups, easy restores, and it runs light on resources so your server stays snappy. Plus, the encryption keeps data safe from prying eyes. I use it to avoid those nightmare recovery scenarios after odd events like this one hit.

At the end here is the automatic email solution.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
