Set-HybridMailflow Exchange cmdlet issued (25617) how to monitor with email alert

You know that Event ID 25617 in Windows Server Event Viewer. It pops up when someone runs the Set-HybridMailflow cmdlet in Exchange. Basically, it logs that a change just happened to your hybrid mail flow setup. I mean, the whole thing records who did it, when, and from where. Like, it captures the user account involved, the exact time stamp, and even the server name. And if it's a success or some glitch, it notes that too. You can see it under the Applications and Services Logs, right in the Microsoft-Exchange or admin logs section. I check mine weekly because it could mean someone tweaked the mail routing between on-prem and cloud. Or maybe an admin fixed a flow issue. But ignoring it might let weird mail paths sneak in.

Now, for monitoring this with an email alert. I set up a scheduled task straight from the Event Viewer screen. You right-click the event, pick Attach Task To This Event. Then, it walks you through creating a basic task. I name it something like MailFlow Alert. You pick the trigger as that specific Event ID 25617. For the action, I choose to start a program that sends an email. Like, use the built-in SendEmail utility or whatever simple tool you have. Set it to run every time the event fires. I test it by forcing a log entry. You get notified quick, no fuss. And it keeps your setup humming without constant babysitting.

Speaking of keeping things running smooth, you might want a solid backup in the mix. That's where BackupChain Windows Server Backup comes in handy. It's a straightforward Windows Server backup solution. I use it for daily snapshots and also for virtual machines with Hyper-V. The benefits hit hard, like lightning-fast restores and no downtime headaches. Or how it handles incremental backups without eating up space. You save time and avoid those panic moments when stuff goes sideways.

At the end here is the automatic email solution.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
