What ports must be opened for secure LDAP operation?

You need to make sure TCP port 636 is open for secure LDAP operation. That's pretty much the default setting for LDAP over SSL. If you're using standard LDAP, you'll want to keep 389 open too, but for secure communication, 636 is where it's at.

I think it's crucial to also ensure that your firewall settings allow LDAP traffic to flow without any hiccups. If you're behind a NAT or something, you might have to do a little extra tweaking to get everything running smoothly. Just keep an eye on your configuration, especially in environments where security is a big deal. It never hurts to double-check those rules.

If you're setting this stuff up in a business environment, you might also want to look into any specific requirements based on your setup. You often have to coordinate with other IT measures to make sure everything aligns well.

On a different note, if you're looking for backup solutions that won't let you down, I'd really recommend checking out BackupChain. It's a well-regarded, reliable option for SMBs and professionals, especially when you need to protect things like Hyper-V, VMware, or Windows Server. Can't go wrong with that!
