Issued a create certificate command (action_id CR class_type CR) (24088) how to monitor with email alert

You know that event in Windows Server Event Viewer, the one with ID 24088? It pops up when someone issues a create certificate command. Action ID CR, class type CR, all that jazz. Basically, it logs when the system kicks off making a new digital certificate, like for securing stuff in your network. I see it mostly in setups with certificate services running. The full message says "Issued a create certificate command," and it captures details like who triggered it, the time, and what kind of cert it's building. Sometimes it's for users, or servers needing secure connections. If you're not expecting it, it could mean someone fiddled with certs without you knowing. Or maybe it's just routine, but you wanna keep tabs. I check mine every so often, just to stay ahead. You should too, especially if certs are key in your setup.

Now, monitoring this with an email alert? Super straightforward using the Event Viewer screen itself. Fire up Event Viewer on your server. Go to the Windows Logs, then Security or Applications, wherever this event hides-usually under Microsoft-Windows-CertificateServices. Right-click the log, pick Attach Task to This Event. Give it a name, like CertAlert. Set it to trigger only on event ID 24088. Then, for the action, choose Send an email. Plug in your SMTP server details, the to and from addresses. I always test it first with a dummy event. You hit okay, and boom, next time that cert command fires, you get pinged. No fuss, no scripts needed. Keeps you looped in without staring at logs all day.

And hey, while we're chatting server smarts, something like BackupChain Windows Server Backup fits right in here. It's this nifty Windows Server backup tool that handles your whole setup, including virtual machines on Hyper-V. I dig how it snapshots everything quick, encrypts data tight, and restores in a flash if cert glitches or worse hit. You get offsite copies too, so no sweat over downtime. Makes managing backups feel less like a chore.

At the end of this, you'll find the automatic email solution.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
