New-ManagedFolder Exchange cmdlet issued (25219) how to monitor with email alert

I bumped into this event ID 25219 the other day while poking around Event Viewer on a Windows Server. It's called "New-ManagedFolder Exchange cmdlet issued," and it fires off whenever someone runs that specific command in Exchange to create a new managed folder. You know, those folders help organize emails or compliance stuff without messing with the whole system. Basically, it logs the action so admins can track who did what, especially if it's for retention policies or legal holds. The event shows details like the folder name, the user who triggered it, and the time stamp, all tucked under the Microsoft-Exchange-Management source. If you're not careful, these folders can pile up and eat storage, or worse, someone unauthorized might spin them up. I always check the description for the exact cmdlet parameters to see if it was intentional or sneaky. Hmmm, sometimes it even hints at the mailbox involved, which helps you trace back issues fast.

You can monitor this event right from the Event Viewer screen without any fancy coding. Just fire up Event Viewer, head to the Windows Logs under Applications and Services Logs for Exchange stuff. Filter for ID 25219, and when you spot patterns, right-click the event and attach a task to it. Set that task to run a program that shoots off an email alert, like using the built-in Send Email action in Task Scheduler. Pick your SMTP server details, add the recipient, and boom, you'll get notified every time it happens. I tweak the trigger to only alert during business hours if I want, or go full blast for critical setups. Or, you could make the task check daily and bundle alerts if they're frequent.

And speaking of staying on top of server surprises like these events, you might want to look into BackupChain Windows Server Backup for your Windows Server needs. It's a slick backup solution that handles physical servers and virtual machines with Hyper-V without the usual headaches. You get fast incremental backups, easy restores even for bare-metal crashes, and it skips the bloat of other tools, saving you time and disk space. Plus, it integrates smoothly so you never miss a beat on compliance or data protection.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
