Update-HybridConfiguration Exchange cmdlet issued (25658) how to monitor with email alert

You know that event in Windows Server Event Viewer, the one with ID 25658. It pops up when someone runs the Update-HybridConfiguration cmdlet for Exchange. Basically, it logs that action right there in the logs. I see it under the MSExchange Management category. The details show who issued it, like the user account or the time it happened. And it includes the full command that got executed. Sometimes it flags if there were any tweaks to the hybrid setup between on-prem and cloud. You can filter for it in Event Viewer by searching that ID. It helps spot changes fast. But yeah, if you're not watching, it just sits there quietly.

I always tell you to set up alerts for stuff like this. Open Event Viewer on your server. Go to the Windows Logs, then Application. Right-click and pick Attach Task to This Event. You pick event ID 25658. Name the task something simple, like HybridUpdateAlert. Set it to run whether user logs on or not. In the actions tab, add send an email. You fill in your SMTP server details there. Put in the to and from addresses. Maybe add a subject like "Hey, Hybrid Config Changed." And in the body, you can say check the logs now. Test it to make sure it fires off. That way, you get pinged right away if it happens.

Or you could tweak the trigger to only alert during certain hours. But keep it basic at first. I did this on my setup last week. Saved me from missing a sneaky update.

Speaking of keeping things backed up amid all these config shifts, I've been messing with BackupChain Windows Server Backup lately. It's this solid Windows Server backup tool that handles your files and system state without fuss. And it extends to virtual machines on Hyper-V, snapshotting them cleanly. You get quick restores, encryption for security, and it runs light on resources. No more sweating over data loss when events like that 25658 hit.

At the end here is the automatic email solution.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
