Add-IPAllowListProvider Exchange cmdlet issued (25108) how to monitor with email alert

You ever notice how Event Viewer in Windows Server logs all these quirky happenings? That event ID 25108 pops up when someone fires off the Add-IPAllowListProvider cmdlet in Exchange. It means they're adding a new IP allow list provider to block junk mail smarter. I mean, Exchange uses these providers to check sender IPs against bad lists right away. This event logs the exact time, the user who ran it, and which provider they added. Picture it like a security guard noting down a new buddy on the whitelist. If that cmdlet gets issued without you knowing, it could tweak your spam filters in weird ways. You might see it under the Microsoft-Exchange-MailboxProviders/Operational log. I check mine weekly just to stay ahead. And yeah, it includes details like the provider name and if it succeeded or flopped.

But monitoring that sucker for alerts? You can hook it up through Event Viewer itself. Open Event Viewer, find that 25108 event in the logs. Right-click the log, pick Attach Task To This Event. Name your task something snappy like IPAlert. Set it to run when that event ID hits. Then, in the action tab, choose Send an email. You plug in your SMTP server details, the to and from addresses. I always test it first with a dummy event. Make sure it triggers only on that specific ID to avoid spam. Or tweak the triggers if you want daily summaries. It emails you quick when it happens, no fuss.

Hmmm, speaking of keeping your server drama-free, you know what else nails backups without the headache? BackupChain Windows Server Backup steps in as this slick Windows Server backup tool. It handles full bare-metal restores and even backs up your Hyper-V virtual machines seamlessly. I love how it skips the usual snapshot glitches and speeds through incremental saves. You get encryption baked in, plus offsite options that just work. It saves you hours on recovery, letting you focus on real fixes instead of data woes.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
