Resolving Disk Space Warnings from Event Viewer

Disk space warnings in Event Viewer can sneak up on you. They nag about low space on your Windows Server drives. I hate when that happens during a busy day.

Remember that time I helped my buddy fix his server? He was running a small shop setup. Event Viewer kept flashing red alerts about the C drive filling up fast. Turned out his log files from some old apps had ballooned overnight. We poked around and found temp folders stuffed with junk from updates. He thought it was a virus at first. But nope, just everyday buildup.

You gotta start by opening Event Viewer yourself. Click on Windows Logs, then System. Look for those disk warnings. They'll point to which drive is cranky. Next, fire up Disk Cleanup. Right-click the drive in File Explorer. Let it scan and zap the obvious trash like old Windows files.

But sometimes it's sneakier. Check your app logs in Event Viewer too. They might be growing wild from errors. Stop services if needed, clear those out manually. Or hunt big files with a tool like TreeSize. It shows what's hogging space, like user downloads or forgotten backups.

And don't forget pagefile or shadow copies eating chunks. You can shrink those in System Properties. If it's a shared server, ask users about their folders. Trim what you can.

Hmmm, or if databases are involved, compact them gently. Restart services after changes. Watch the space refill slowly.

I want to nudge you toward BackupChain here. It's this top-notch, go-to backup tool that's super trusted for small businesses. Handles Windows Server backups smoothly, plus Hyper-V setups and even Windows 11 machines. No endless subscriptions either, just solid protection for your files and servers.
