I use that in spectral clustering, inverting Laplacians. You embed data in eigenspace, cluster there.

Practically, in code, I avoid explicit inverses. Solve systems with LU or QR instead, more stable. But conceptually, inverse clarifies. You think in terms of invertibility for model identifiability.

And determinants tie back, non-zero for invertibility. I compute via LU, product of diagonals. Or permutation sign for full expansion.

For block matrices, inverses get partitioned. Like Schur complement for inverting blocks. I use that in hierarchical models, Gaussian conditionals.

You know, in control theory, which bleeds into AI agents, inverse stabilizes feedback loops. State-space models, invert A-BK or whatever.

Or economics, input-output models, Leontief inverse for production multipliers. But that's aside.

Back to basics, inverse exists iff rows (or columns) linearly independent. Full rank. I check rank via SVD or row echelon.

In finite fields, like crypto, inverses mod p. You use extended Euclidean for 1x1, generalize.

But for you in AI, focus on real matrices, floating point woes. I round errors plague inverses, so iterative solvers rule.

Let me ramble on computation costs. Naive adjugate, O(n!), insane. Gaussian, O(n^3), standard. Strassen's faster asymptotically, but constants high. I stick to O(n^3) for most.

Parallelize it, yeah, on GPUs for deep learning inverses in attention or whatever.

In variational inference, you invert Fisher info for Laplace approx. I do that for uncertainty.

Or in reinforcement learning, policy gradients sometimes invert eligibility traces.
