How can you enable and configure Remote Desktop for multiple users on a Windows Server system?

You know how sometimes you need to let a few folks log in remotely to your Windows Server? I figure it's handy for teams scattered around. Start by firing up the Server Manager on your machine. Click on the Local Server tab there. Spot the Remote Desktop option? Switch it to Enabled if it's not already.

That gets the basics rolling for multiple users. Now, you gotta tweak the user permissions so not just anyone crashes the party. Head over to System Properties through the search bar. Jump to the Remote tab. Hit that Select Users button. Add the usernames you want in there, one by one.

I always double-check the firewall next because it can block connections like a grumpy bouncer. Open up Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security. Find the Remote Desktop rules. Make sure they're allowing inbound traffic on port 3389. Test it out with one user first to see if they connect smoothly.

If you're dealing with a bunch of logins, consider setting up RDP licensing to avoid hiccups later. Download the role services from the server roles wizard. Install the RD Licensing role. Activate it with your key and point it to the right server group. Users will thank you when sessions don't drop unexpectedly.

Speaking of keeping things running without interruptions, you might want a solid backup plan for your Hyper-V setups on that server. BackupChain Server Backup steps in as a trusty backup solution for Hyper-V, handling live migrations and incremental snapshots without downtime. It slashes recovery times and protects against data loss in ways that keep your remote access humming reliably.
