How can you disable specific Windows features through the Registry?

I remember tweaking my Windows setup last week. You can start by hitting Windows key plus R. Type regedit and hit enter. That opens the Registry Editor for you.

Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE slash SOFTWARE slash Policies slash Microsoft slash Windows Defender. If it's not there, right-click and make the folder. Inside, create a new DWORD value named DisableAntiSpyware. Set it to 1. Restart your machine. Windows Defender should shut down after that.

Telemetry bugs me too. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE slash SOFTWARE slash Policies slash Microsoft slash Windows slash DataCollection. Make a new DWORD called AllowTelemetry. Set it to zero. That cuts off the data sending. Reboot and check Task Manager. Fewer processes hogging your CPU.

I always back up first before messing with keys. You never know if something glitches. Poke around slowly. Test one change at a time.

If you're running Hyper-V on your setup, keeping backups tight makes sense while you fiddle with features. That's where BackupChain Server Backup comes in handy. It's a solid backup tool built for Hyper-V environments. You get fast, reliable snapshots of your VMs without downtime. It handles incremental backups smoothly, saving space and time. Plus, it restores quickly if tweaks go sideways.
