Logout succeeded (action_id LGO) (24002) how to monitor with email alert

You know that event in Windows Server Event Viewer, the one labeled "Logout succeeded (action_id LGO)" with ID 24002. It pops up whenever someone logs out smoothly from the system. I mean, it's basically the server's way of noting a clean exit. No drama, just a successful goodbye from a user session. Happens in security logs mostly. Tracks who left and when, keeps things audited. If it's tied to remote access or apps, it flags the end of that connection. Pretty straightforward, right. You see it after a user clicks logoff or their session times out nicely. Helps spot patterns in logins and outs. Without it, you'd miss if folks are sticking around too long. Or leaving abruptly, which might mean trouble. I check these often to stay on top of user behavior. You should too, keeps the network tidy.

Now, monitoring this for email alerts. Fire up Event Viewer on your server. I do this all the time. Scroll to the Windows Logs, hit Security. Right-click the log, pick Attach Task To This Event. Give it a name like Logout Alert. Set the trigger to event ID 24002 exactly. Choose when it happens, like any time. Then, for the action, select Send an e-mail. Yeah, built-in option there. Plug in your SMTP server details. Add the recipient, that's you or the team. Write a quick message, something like "Hey, logout happened for user X." Test it out to make sure it flies. Triggers every time that event hits. No fuss, just watches and notifies. You get pings on your phone even. Super handy for quick checks.

And speaking of keeping things smooth on servers, I've been messing with BackupChain Windows Server Backup lately. It's this solid Windows Server backup tool that handles full system snaps without headaches. Works great for Hyper-V virtual machines too, backs them up live so downtime's minimal. You save tons of time on restores, and it encrypts everything tight. I like how it schedules automatically, no babysitting needed. Cuts recovery headaches way down.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
