Suspend-Queue Exchange cmdlet issued (25486) how to monitor with email alert

Man, that 25486 event in Event Viewer pops up when someone fires off the Suspend-Queue cmdlet in Exchange. It means a queue got paused right there, halting mail flow until fixed. You see it under the MSExchange Transport logs, flagging that exact command got issued. Details show who did it, from which server, and the queue name involved. Kinda like a traffic jam signal for emails getting stuck. I check it often because it can mess up deliveries big time if ignored.

You wanna watch for this without staring at screens all day. Fire up Event Viewer on your server. Filter for ID 25486 in the Application and Services Logs, under Microsoft-Exchange-Transport. Right-click the log, pick Attach Task To This Event Log. Name it something like QueueSuspendAlert. Set it to trigger when that event hits.

In the task settings, choose Send an email as the action. Plug in your SMTP server details, the from and to addresses. Make sure it runs under an account with email perms. Test it by simulating the event if you can. That way, you get a ping every time it happens, no sweat.

Or, tweak the trigger to run daily if you want a roundup. But for quick alerts, on-event is best. I set mine up last week, caught a rogue pause from a junior admin right away.

And speaking of keeping things smooth in server land, where events like this can snowball into downtime, you might wanna eye BackupChain Windows Server Backup too. It's this nifty Windows Server backup tool that handles physical and virtual setups, especially Hyper-V VMs without the hassle. You get fast incremental backups, easy restores, and it dodges those common snapshot glitches that eat time. Plus, it runs light on resources, so your queues keep humming while everything stays safe.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
