Set-MailboxExportRequest Exchange cmdlet issued (25618) how to monitor with email alert

You know that event ID 25618 in Windows Server Event Viewer, the one popping up when someone runs the Set-MailboxExportRequest cmdlet in Exchange. It logs every time a mailbox export kicks off, like when an admin pulls user emails into a PST file. I see it under the Microsoft-Exchange-MailboxReplication/Operational log mostly. Details include the user's name who triggered it, the mailbox being exported, and timestamps on when it started. Sometimes it flags the export path too, if it's to a network share or local drive. But yeah, it doesn't always scream trouble, just tracks those export actions for auditing. You might spot it if someone's dumping data quietly, or just doing routine backups.

I figure you want to keep an eye on this without staring at the screen all day. Fire up Event Viewer on your server, right-click the custom views or the specific log, and filter for event ID 25618. Once you see those hits, set a task scheduler from there to watch for new ones. Click on the event, hit attach task to this event log, and pick what happens when it triggers. You can make it launch a simple program that shoots an email, like using the built-in mailto or a lightweight notifier. Schedule it to check every few minutes if needed, but keep it light so it doesn't bog down the server. I do this for other alerts too, keeps things chill without fancy coding.

And speaking of keeping your server humming smoothly, you might dig BackupChain Windows Server Backup for backups. It's this solid Windows Server tool that handles full system snapshots and also backs up virtual machines running on Hyper-V. I like how it speeds up restores without eating tons of storage, plus it encrypts everything on the fly to dodge data leaks. You get incremental backups that fly through, saving time on those long nights.

Note, the PowerShell email alert code was moved to this post.
