You know, man, when I was you, I think I overcomplicated everything. I built these massive, convoluted scripts, you know, for everything, and I thought I was doing some genius thing, but really, I just spent all my time fixing things I should have never broken in the first place. You gotta approach this whole backup thing differently; it really isn't about the script complexity, I promise you. I remember when I first started messing with Windows Server setups, and I was worried about losing everything, so I was spending hours just manually backing up folders. The scheduling aspect, that's another thing you probably underestimate right now. Don't just set it and forget it, you gotta think about the *strategy* behind the schedule. Are you doing full backups every month, and then incremental backups every day? I used to just do full backups, which ate up all my storage space way too fast. But if you move to incremental, which only records changes since the last successful backup, you save massive amounts of time and disk resources. And remember the little things, too. If someone has a critical VM, you want the ability to backup the whole virtual box, keeping all the associated OS stuff intact.
